Hidden Motcombe

Join local historian and experienced guide Kevin Gordon as you visit sites rarely open to the public! Starting at The Lamb Inn, you'll descend into the depths of the Medieval cellar and hear all about Medieval life, before crossing over to the 12th century St Mary's Church, where you'll explore the Parsonage and Ringing Chamber. After a short walk to Motcombe Gardens, you'll see inside the recently excavated Motcombe Dovecote, learning all about the history of the site as a Medieval Farm all the way up to its use in present day. The walk will finish at the now closed Motcombe Pool, which will be open for the purposes of this tour.

Please note that due to steps into the cellar and spiral staircases, this tour is not suitable for those with limited mobility.

Directions:

The group will meet Kevin in the space between the Lamb Inn and St Mary's Church. There is parking in the surrounding streets and a bus stop right outside the Lamb Inn.
