The Whitaker Museum & Art Gallery: Behind the Scenes

A 'behind the scenes' tour of our attic stores lasting 30 minutes. The tour will be split into 10 mins per section with a different volunteer or Curator explaining the area of the collection they mainly work on and a favourite item they have come across. This tour will be repeated four times on Saturday 14th September at 11am/ 12pm/ 1pm/ 2pm and there will be 4 tickets per slot, so 16 tickets overall for the whole day. Areas of interest will include Taxidermy, Social History & Art.

Accessibility details
The full tour of the attic is not accessible to wheelchair users as it is up a set of stairs that has no lift access. However, if wheelchair users want to book, we will be able to bring to the floor below the items that the volunteers and Curator will be focusing on.
Additional information
The attic store is usually closed for visitors but The Whitaker wants to use this opportunity in connection with Heritage Open Days to open up this space to members of the public. We want to share our on-going project of documenting and cataloguing our collections.
