Carved out of the ancient forest of Sherwood, Clumber Park is a beautiful expanse of parkland, heath and woods covering more than 3,800 acres. For over three centuries, the park was the country estate of the Dukes of Newcastle. Although the spectacular three storey mansion was taken down in 1938, there are many glimpses of Clumber's grand past to explore, including the Duke’s Study (the last remaining room of the house), the Laundry Yard, the Turning Yard, the Lincoln Stables, the Chapel of St Mary the Virgin, a four-acre, productive walled kitchen garden and a 87-acre serpentine lake. Visitors can follow in the footsteps of the dukes and experience wonderul sights, scents and a taste of the past.
Accessible routes and woodland paths cover over 20 miles of beautiful trails through a variety of landscapes, offering walking routes for all ages and abilities to enjoy.
Visitor experience volunteers will be on hand around the main visitor area from 10.30 - 14.30 to share their knowledge of the estate, the role Clumber played in WWI & WWII, the dukes and their families.
