Heritage Day at Parade House Trowbridge

Parade House Trowbridge
Built in around 1720 for the wealthy cloth merchant Robert Houlton, and recently saved from dereliction and restored to its former glory, Parade House is one of the finest and most elegant buildings in Trowbridge, the centrepiece of what Pevsner's Guide to Wiltshire described as a 'stretch of palaces' along Fore Street. This prestigious building features beautifully furnished reception rooms, a sweeping original 18th Century staircase leading to a grand first floor ballroom with seven full height sash windows spanning the width of the building.
Of particular note is the fully panelled Director's Room with ornate ceiling and marble fireplace, the delicate Bridgerton style Blue Drawing Room and the intricate plaster ceiling coving over the first floor landing featuring a garland of flowers and fruit. The original vaults have been converted into a stylish bar and small cinema.
Ushers Brewery Heritage Day
From 1918 until 1998, Parade House was the head office of Ushers Brewery, first founded in 1824. In its heyday in the 20th century it was one of the biggest brewers in the South West and a much-loved pillar of Trowbridge community. This Heritage Day, Parade House will be commemorating Ushers' 200th Anniversary with a major celebration that will include photographs and memorabilia, including a vintage Ushers lorry, special displays and talks, live music and a beer tent in the forecourt. Afternoon Tea, drinks and refreshments will also be served.

As a Grade 1 listed property we regret we are restricted from being able to modify Parade House to offer wheelchair accessibility and we have no lift. Access to the house is via steps and access to the first floor and historic vaults is also by staircase. We regret also that we cannot accommodate pushchairs or dogs. We will have no on-site parking on Heritage Day but there is ample parking nearby in Trowbridge.
