Hereford Cathedral Cloister Tour
5 College Cloisters, Cathedral Close, Hereford, Herefordshire, HR1 2NG
Join us on Saturday 14 September for a special Cloister Tour to celebrate Heritage Open Day. The College Cloisters were built in 1475 as a residence for the community of Vicars Choral, who sung in cathedral services every day. Today, the Cloisters house both residences for some of the cathedral staff and administrative offices. The tour will last about 20 minutes and include an opportunity to visit the beautiful College Hall and tranquil Cloister and Canons’ Gardens. After the tour, there will be time for guests to visit the Old Chapel and meet Cathedral Archivist, Elizabeth Semper O’Keefe, who will be sharing some fascinating stories and showing archive material about the historic cloisters and Vicars who lived here. Cloister Tours are free, with advance booking required via the cathedral website. Hereford Cathedral will also be open for visiting throughout the day but access to some areas may be limited due to weddings taking place.

The cloister walkways and cloister garden are easily accessible for wheelchairs. Canon's Garden has some areas with sloping lawns, gravel paths and a few steps so is less accessible, but more accessible routes throughout the gardens can be suggested.
