Have-A-Go-History at Avoncroft Museum

Volunteers and reenactors will help you to step back in time through dress, dance, cooking and army drill.
This immersive family-friendly weekend of displays, demonstrations and hands-on history will entertain visitors of all ages. The beautiful nineteen acre grounds of Avoncroft Museum and the Medieval Town House will come alive as you learn all about military tactics of the 17th century and see what civilian life was like through interactive living history encampments.
Devereux's Regiment of Foot was founded by Nicholas Devereux in September 1643 during the English Civil War. Devereux commanded a firelock company of the Earl of Essex’s Regiment at Edgehill. Today, Devereux's Regiment is re-enacted by Colonel Nicholas Devereaux's Regiment of the English Civil War Society, a renowned re-enactment group, The Devereux’s Regiment, has a passion for bringing the past to the present, it was established in the early 1970s and has members from all over the UK. The society is based in the West and West Midlands and aims to portray military and domestic life to a high standard.

Accessibility details
ACCESSIBILITY Avoncroft Museum is a 19-acre open-air site of historic buildings. The buildings are linked by wide gravel paths and there are well positioned benches around the grounds. The site is mostly flat, although there is one steep hill to the ice house. Avoncroft Museum is constantly working to improve the accessibility of the Museum and we always endeavour to meet our visitors’ requirements.
