Halifax Minster
Church Stret, Halifax Minster Office, Unit 3,, Halifax, West Yorkshire, HX1 1QL
The Minster is rich in history, heritage, spirituality and architecture. Marvel at the beautiful stained glass, the simple elegance of the Commonwealth Windows, the craftsmanship of the ornate font cover, the box pews, 'Mousey' Thompson chairs and stunning painted wooden ceiling.
The Minster is the spiritual home of the Duke of Wellington's Regiment and proudly home to a number of its colour standards, including that of the Battle of Waterloo.
The Minster has many fine monuments, brasses and graves, including that of Anne Lister, who lived nearby, was baptised and worshipped here regularly.
Our regular 'Thursday @ One' organ recital takes place on Thursday 5th September as part of the Halifax Heritage Festival. Lunches are available prior to the concert. We are also delighted to welcome the Elland Silver Band to perform a concert as part of the Festival on Saturday 14th September. There will be tower-top tours arranged on some of the Festival days, check out the website to confirm the dates and times and to book.
