Gunns Mill Open Day, Nr. Mitcheldean, Glos

Gunns Mill, Lower Spout Lane, Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire, GL17 0EA

  • 15 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Beneath the weather-saving covering lies a building from times long passed. The building has one of the most complete surviving seventeenth century blast furnaces.

A rare opportunity for visitors to view the on-going repairs at this significant Grade2* Listed Building which is probably the most complete early charcoal fired blast furnace in Western Europe. Funding has recently been received that makes further restoration work possible.
The event is not suitable for children under 12 years. The remains are in the ownership of the Forest of Dean Buildings Preservation Society, an organisation that has taken on responsibility for ensuring that important buildings are preserved as part of our local heritage.
