Goathurst Village Trail: Robin Hood's Hut

Robin Hood's Hut, Goathurst, Somerset, TA5 2EW

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking preferred

Visit Robin Hood's Hut open to the public for the first time since 2022

Once inside the hut, the elegant interior provides a fitting antechamber to the umbrello, from where the view stretches across the Mendip Hills towards the Bristol Channel and the mountains of South Wales beyond.

Robin Hood’s Hut was built by Sir Charles Kemeys Tynte in the late 1760s to adorn the re-landscaping of his estate at Halswell Park, Goathurst. The Landmark Trust took it on in 2000 when approached by Somerset Building Preservation Trust (SBPT) to find a use for the folly to stop it from falling into disrepair.

On the weekend as part of Goathurst Village Trail, there will be access to Halswell House, Mill Wood; for the first time all the follies of Halswell Park: the Temple of Harmony, Rotunda (Mrs Busby's Temple); Temple of Pan; together with St Edward's Church and an exhibition in the village hall.
