Was coal ever extracted in the Porter Valley? Find out on this geological ramble led by three retired geologists. The walk will take 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Meet by 311, Brincliffe Edge Road at the junction with Bannerdale Road, S7 2DJ to explore the extraction and processing of the minerals once found in the Porter valley. Please wear suitable footwear and bring a waterproof coat, as the HODs walk will go ahead even in inclement weather.
