From Peaky Blinders to Maharajas - Lanchesters Legacy

Coventry University’s Lanchester Library celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Named after inventor and polymath Dr Frederick Lanchester, he pioneered innovations within automotive, aeronautic and audio technological industries.

The university holds the worlds largest Lanchester archive collection and, to mark the 40th anniversary of the naming of the library, we will be exhibiting archive artefacts not normally available to the public and celebrating the influence of the Lanchesters on Indian architectural heritage and design. The exhibition will be available to view on three floors of the library, each with its own individual theme.
On Fri. 13th Sept. in addition to the exhibitions we will be displaying our Coventry built 1932 Lanchester 15/18hp limousine outside the library building, with an Indian TukTuk exhibition, giving the public the opportunity to discover many of its unique features. This award winning restored vehicle is one of only sixteen known to have survived and the only model to reside in its birthplace.
