A talk by Mansi S Rao examining the buta motif that originated in India and went on to become widely recognised as the Paisley motif.

Join Mansi S Rao, Curator at The South Asia Collection, as she examines the diverse representations of the buta motif that originated in India, and explores how it went on to become recognised globally as the Paisley motif. She will focus on the ways in which this motif became one of the most widely used across many textile craft traditions, including weaving, embroidery, and printing.
