Join Ouseburn expert Mike Greatbatch and 36 Lime Street glass artist Sue Woolhouse on a tour of the exterior and then interior of 36 Lime Street, along the way explaining what its original use was and a tour of several studios.

Today 36 Lime Street is a collective of over 40 workshops, occupied by freelance artists and other creative practitioners.
The building dates from the 1847 and in its 176 year history has witnessed some of Ouseburn's greatest events and changes.
Join Ouseburn expert Mike Greatbatch and 36 Lime Street artist Sue Woolhouse on a tour of the building, external and internal, and learn something of its fascinating history.

We will meet at the main entrance to 36 Lime Street, adjacent to Seven Stories and the large chimney. From there we will walk down together to the bridge over the Ouseburn, down the slipway. Mike will explain why the building was built on the edge of the Ouseburn River, who owned it and its various historical uses. We will talk about Mike Mould who bought the building as derelict in 1983. We will then walk back up to the main entrance and walk up to the top level which is the original roof of the building. As we walk down through all floors, eventually ending up in Sue’s studio on the ground floor, we will visit several artists’ studios, to see how they have been adapted to different artists’ requirements and techniques. We have a wide range of artists working within the building.
 Pre-booking: Preferred
The tour is free. Spaces are limited to 25 people per tour. To reserve your space please contact Sue Woolhouse on [email protected]
