Football History Walking Tour
The Old Fire Station, 101-109 West Bar, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S3 8PT
Come & join us on one of our guided football history walking tours around the world's very first city of association football, Sheffield. Sheffield is a unique open air museum of football history.
Organised by Sheffield Home of Football volunteer guides, the tour is a stroll around iconic buildings in Sheffield's City Centre. We explore the remarkable story of Sheffield, the crucible of the modern game of football, we witness the site that inspired tournaments such as the FA & World Cups, we see where the game was first discussed and organised and also visit the sites where some of the world's earliest clubs were formed. You will visit important heritage landmarks and 'hidden places' steeped in history and hear stories about the early pioneers of the global game.
The tour last just over an hour and starts from outside the Emergency Transport Museum just a stones throw from the very spot that inspired tournament football. We walk past the Cathedral area, down Norfolk Row, through Tudor Square and finish on Arundel Street.
"Let us take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of Sheffield. We can tell you some things that are going to blow your mind"
