Garstang Meeting House still has many original features, tying the building back to its original state and showing the simple way of worship that is typical of Quaker belief. Its distance from the centre of town and relative isolation, until recent housing developments, have helped preserve this link. It is very similar to many of the early meeting houses that were built as soon as it was legal to do so.

Garstang is just south of Lancaster, one of the early centres of Quakerism and within the Braider 1652 country; this defines the lands where George Fox found such a strong following and ceased being an itinerant preacher and became the leader of a movement for religious renewal. 2024 is being celebrated as the 400th anniversary of George Fox's birth, and this opening will include information about his life and works in the context of this historic place of worship.

Directions:

From the North Take the B6430 out of Garstang town centre to Preston and about 250m on from passing the Garstang academy on your left turn left down Calder House Lane. The track to the meeting house is another 150m onwards From the South From the A6 take the B6430 to Garstang town centre and after the Golf club entrance turn right into Calder House Lane Please park after the cottages on the left hand side of the road, there is limited disabled parking up the track. The 40, 41 and 42 buses stop at the end of Calder House Lane from Preston, Blackpool, Lancaster and Morecambe.
