Fantastic Beasts and Mythical Monsters

Edith Morley Building, Whiteknights Campus, University of Reading, Shinfield Road, Reading, Berkshire, RG6 6EL

  • 07 Sep 2024
  • In person

The Ure Museum's collection of ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian archaeology depicts a menagerie of incredible creatures! People used these fabulous beasts for storytelling and to make sense of their world. Come along to learn more!

Using the images of these amazing and magical beasts, mythical monsters and people with super-human powers, the Ure Museum will be open for everyone to learn about the stories behind the objects on display.

There will be trails for both children and adults, including the new sensory trail based on the animals of the Ure, as well as craft activities and storytelling for the youngest visitors. There will be opportunities for everyone to handle some of the pots in our collection, learning about how they were made, what they were used for and what the images on them may mean.
