Exploring St Swithun's
Alresford Road, Winchester, Hampshire, SO21 1HA
St Swithun’s opened the doors to its first seventeen pupils in 1884 and was at the forefront of change in the development of female education in the 19th century. A recent archive project has uncovered more information about the school’s history which we’re keen to share with everyone.
We’ll be offering short guided tours of the school, accompanied by a talk from the school librarian who will guide you through a display of artefacts from our archive collection. This is the chance to find out more about us; from our pioneering stance on the education of women to our involvement in the two World Wars.
Refreshments will be served with the talk so come and immerse yourself in history and enjoy St Swithun's infamous hospitality.
