Exploring the ways in which the medieval monks of Ely used plants and herbs for healing.

These 45 -60 minute talks will introduce visitors to the Physick Garden at Ely Cathedral. Visitors will learn why the medieval physick would have been such an integral part of the lives of the monks of Ely. We'll explore the ways in which the herbs and plants grown in our replica garden would have been used to help and heal during the medieval period, discovering the theories and beliefs behind them.
Talks will take place on the East Lawn of the Cathedral, with the Cathedral and Physick creating a beautiful backdrop. The first talk will begin at 12pm and the second at 3pm. There is no need to pre-book this free event.
