Charming Emmetts Garden is an Edwardian estate that was owned by Frederic Lubbock, becoming both a plantsman's passion and a much-loved family home.

This hillside garden was laid out in the late 19th century and was influenced by William Robinson. It contains many rare trees and shrubs from across the world. Standing on one of the highest spots in Kent, Emmetts Garden offers panoramic views over the unspoilt Weald as well as some great walking opportunities. Explore the Italianate rose garden, the rock garden, and the South Garden to see interesting specimens that come to life in early autumn.

Depending on how the seasons shift, you might come across the Katsura tree that gives off a scent similar to toffee apples, the Rhododendron ‘Whitethroat’ which turns the most vivid dark red and the Nyssa sinensis that holds beautiful colouration from bottom to top.

For families, there are games to borrow and play in the meadow, our wild play area, and wide open spaces to relax with a picnic.
