Eastgate Studio is an artist run, print studio and gallery in Beverley, East Yorkshire. The space includes six traditional printmaking workshops and a gallery showcasing a wide range of print techniques including mezzotint, linocut and dry point.

Eastgate Studio will be featuring hand pulled print-works relating to the historic town of Beverley throughout our studio galleries, along with an exhibition of print by Lindy Norton and Andi Dakin in the Studio Gallery.

Eastgate Studio’s aim is to raise awareness of traditional printmaking. Consequently, as part of the “Heritage Open Days”, we’re giving visitors to the gallery the opportunity to see our 1888 Albion flatbed press and our Hawthorne etching press in operation. We will be pulling prints from our “Beverley” print plates.

We also have a Victorian “mangle press” adapted from the laundry mangle of old on display. The original mangle is concealed within a sideboard that also converts into a dining table. The Victorians were expert in producing household items for small dwellings!

If you want to try pulling a print, we’ll have experienced printmakers at the event offering advice and support along with complimentary Snowden 300g and Kent 190g cartridge papers and Cranfield safewash inks for your use.

In addition, we have a lovely range of traditional printmaking papers you can purchase and try out including Somerset, Fabriano, Arches Rives and a range of Awagami Japanese papers.

We look forward to seeing you at Eastgate Studio.
