DQ150 History walk

Devonshire Park, College Road, Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN21 4JJ

  • 12 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

Celebrate 150 years of Devonshire Park with Heritage Collections Officer Kelly van Doorn, on this historic walking tour!

Discover how trespassing led to the creation of Devonshire Park, what the FA Cup has to do with tennis, how a trip from Shoreham ended in a plane crash and which building was hidden in plain sight for over a century! Along the tour, you will be shown rarely-seen objects from our archives and photographs showing the development of the park over the years.

The group will meet next to the colourful Towner wall and the tennis courts. Please note that this route will look at buildings within the Devonshire Quarter and there is a ramp up to Devonshire Park Theatre. Pay and display parking can be found further up College Road, next to Blackwater Road. Cafe and toilet facilities can be found in the DQ Cafe after the walk.
