Discover Westgate Guided Walk

Meet outside the Town Hall,, Wood, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, WF1 2HQ

  • 08 Sep 2024
  • In person
  • Pre-booking required

Join Wakefield Civic Society for this guided walk to discover the history of Westgate, Wakefield and its architecture.

In 2020, the Upper Westgate Conservation Area in Wakefield city centre was designated a Heritage Action Zone, a project co-funded by Wakefield Council and Historic England. As part of the project, the Society published a book about the history of Westgate and the surrounding area.

This walk, which starts outside the Town Hall in Wood Street, will explain some of this fascinating history and highlight some of the historic architectural details to be found along one of Wakefield's principal medieval streets.

As an added bonus, everyone taking part in the walk will be given a free copy of the Society's book on the history of the street.
