Derbyshire’s Holy Connections: the ‘Saints of Derbyshire’ linocuts

Loudon Lodge, Derby Arboretum, Grove Street, Derby, Derbyshire, DE23 8EL

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Meet the murderers, monsters, and misfits who became hermits, abbesses, martyrs, and in more recent times, founders of important social service organisations (think Florence Nightingale, and Catherine Booth, "The Mother of the Salvation Army").

‘Saints of Derbyshire’ by Simon J Taylor and Josephine Simister was published by Derby Cathedral in 2021, and liberally illustrated with line drawings and 20 linocuts by Jo Simister to complement the gripping and fascinating tales of men and women throughout the ages whose religious calling motivated them to act.
Jo will be on hand to talk about the historical sources she used for the 20 linocut designs (some of which are still available for sale) and the linocut process. Copies of the book will also be available.
