With over 1000 Commonwealth War Graves, Stonefall Cemetery is one of the largest Commonwealth War Graves Commission sites in the North of England. Nearly all of the casualties are airmen from the Second World War.
Join us for a special tour for Heritage Open Days, and discover the fascinating stories of some remarkable men who made a difference during times of conflict. Our knowledgeable guides will lead you through this cemetery, sharing tales of courage and resilience telling the stories of casualties from East Africa, Fiji, the Caribbean, Canada, Australia and New Zealand who are buried at Stonefall as well as the stories of some of the French crew who were once laid to rest there.

The tour involves walking on grass as well as paths.
Please note: The starting point for the tour is in front of the Crematorium - please be mindful that on weekdays cremations and funerals might be taking place. Please come dressed for the weather. The tour involves walking on grass as well as paths and will last for approximately 90 minutes. You can park within the cemetery (be mindful that the gates for vehicles are locked at 1600 at weekends and 1630 weekdays). There is a public toilet near the main entrance from Wetherby Road.
