Cromer Pier & Pavilion Theatre
The Pier, Promenade, Cromer, Norfolk, NR27 9HE
Known as the jewel of the North Norfolk coast, Cromer Pier is a 151-metre-long Victorian structure. There has been a pier or jetty in Cromer since 1391, however, the pier as we recognise it today opened in June of 1901 where a bandstand was erected at the head. This was extended in 1905 to form a pavilion. Now in 2024, Cromer Pier has been awarded the title of Pier of the Year by the National Piers Society. To celebrate the beginnings of the pier, the Cromer & Sheringham Brass Band will perform on the pier from 1pm until 3pm.
Visitors will also be able to step inside the Pavilion Theatre from 10am until 3pm to watch a short documentary created specially for HODs, narrated by Norfolk's own Olly Day. The short film will document the history of the pier as well as the iconic Cromer Pier Show which first opened in 1978. Discover the rich history of the only end of pier show of its kind in the world as well getting a sneak peek at a few of the beautiful costumes and props that have featured in the shows over the years.
