Jenny will explain how a retirement project that started in 2009 has now become a museum over 3 floors with a Music Hall which dates back to 1868.
All of this has evolved because of the community and her discovery of the little known heritage on the Isle of Sheppey.
In its heyday in 1874 7,000 people lived here now there are around 200.
The building itself has its own story from being a hotel and music hall, the first cinema on Sheppey to being bombed in WW1 then building boats on site and engineering works and a kitchen showroom before Jenny and her husband Ian with a team of volunteers over 14yrs have transformed the venue into a thriving museum and theatre.
Jenny will take you on a tour around the centre and explain how the project has evolved and a behind the scenes tour of the archives and music hall.
Our top floor is dedicated to our maritime history and includes links with Nelson and the Victory - Sheerness Dockyard - Disasters and the importance of Sheerness Dockyard.
