Delve into the Cemetery's past, explore informational displays and engage with Trustees to discover the intriguing life stories of some of those laid to rest here.

The Dissenters' Cemetery is a beautiful Victorian burial ground in the Village of Cottenham, established in 1845 as a final resting place for local Nonconformists (Dissenters). Today, it is maintained and managed by dedicated volunteer trustees for the benefit of everyone in Cottenham.

Join us in the tranquil surroundings, to learn about the cemetery's origins and history. Discover Victorian grave symbology and the meanings behind their designs. There will also be an opportunity to learn about some of the notable graves found here, including the CWGC War Graves. Our historic funeral bier will also be on display for the day.

Trustees will be on hand to answer any questions and assist anyone searching for specific graves. Whether you have a personal connection to the cemetery or want to learn more about its heritage, this event is sure to interest you.

Cottenham Village Society will be with us for the day, offering a variety of interesting local history publications for purchase. We will also be joined by Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Family History Society who will be demonstrating how cemeteries can serve as a valuable resource for researching family history.

Please be aware that, while the cemetery has a long and rich history, it still continues to serve as a place of interment and remembrance for the local community. We kindly ask all visitors to be respectful of the burial grounds and considerate of others who come here to find peace and reflection. Thank you.
