What is a Coracle, I hear you ask? A coracle is a small, rounded, lightweight boat, constructed of lengths of ash or willow and woven like a basket. Join us to find out more, watch a coracle making demonstration and even try a free, coracle ride!

Tamworth Castle, in conjunction with Cairn Crafts will be celebrating connections through coracle making. Come along and find out more about the craft of coracle making; watch how they are made, learn about the history of the coracle and find out what they were used for.

Coracle making demonstrations will be located at 'The Hub, The Old Swimming Baths', opposite the Tennis Courts, in Tamworth Castle Grounds on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September.

Ever wanted to sail in a coracle? Now is your chance, as we are offering free, coracle rides for adults and children (age 4+), in a small pool located opposite 'The Hub'.

Expert coracle makers from ‘Cairn Crafts’ will be running the coracle making demonstrations and offering free coracle rides. Cairn Crafts was founded by Kevin and Ellen over 30 years ago, they have been demonstrating coracle making around the country and have made coracles for various films and television productions, including most recently, the television series, ‘Game of Thrones’.
