Commonwealth War Graves Tours – Halton (St Michael) Churchyard
St Michael & All Angels Church, Church View, Halton, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP22 5PA
The churchyard of St Michael & All Angels in the village of Halton is located very close to RAF Halton, the military camp set up just before the start of the First World War which, from 1922, was the home for RAF Apprentice Scheme training. In 1927 the Princess Mary’s RAF Hospital Halton was established in the camp, providing medical care for sick and injured personnel from the armed services. Today the churchyard is the final resting place for 104 Army, Air Force and Naval personnel from the two World Wars, along with more than 160 military Non-War Graves. Many of the casualties buried here have links to the RAF Halton camp.
During this Heritage Open Days tour you will hear about the CWGC and the stories of some of the service personnel buried in the churchyard. Those men and women include Australian, Canadian, Dutch, French and Polish as well as British personnel.
