Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery
Cemetery, North Hinksey Lane, Botley, Oxford, Oxfordshire, OX2 0LX
The cemetery is laid out precisely, as are the cemeteries in North France and wherever battles were fought in the two World Wars, with graves of both British and German men. During the Great War the Examinations School housed a military hospital and this cemetery contains 156 burials from that war and 516 from the Second World War, when it became a regional RAF cemetery.
This War Graves cemetery contains a Cross of Sacrifice, designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield; a Stone of Remembrance, by Sir Edwin Lutyens; and a shelter, as advocated by Sir Herbert Baker. On Saturday there will be talks at 10.30 and 2.00 about the cemetery and particular graves of interest.
