Codicote Village Museum
rear of Peace Memorial Hall, High Street, Codicote, Near Hitchin, Hertfordshire, SG4 8UB
Hidden away behind the village hall in the High Street, this Edwardian timber and corrugated iron men’s club has been lovingly restored and converted into a community museum by Codicote Local History Society, open a few days each year. There will be a variety of displays and a chance to look through an archive of old photographs of the area, as well as discussing the area’s history with local experts. Just for today, there will be a selection of guided walks during the afternoon around the parish and village, a former mediaeval market town. Publications about the area and light refreshments will be on sale. There will also be a chance to see finds from our recent community archaeology test pits.
