Churchill's Spaniards - a talk by author Séan Scullion
The Royal Logistic Corps Museum, Connaught Road, Worthy Down, Winchester, Hampshire, SO21 2RG
Churchill’s Spaniards is the story of the recruitment, training and deployment of often battle-hardened Spaniards into the service of the realm, set against the backdrop of Churchill’s efforts to keep Spain out of the war. These fighting men served across the British Army: from the elite SAS, Commandos and Special Operations Executive to the ranks of the Infantry and Pioneer Corps.
Spaniards fought in almost all battles and campaigns in the West from the Fall of France and the evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940, to the campaigns in North Africa, Italy as well as France and Germany to the end of the war.
Using wide ranging material from Britain, France and Spain as well as previously unpublished eyewitness and official accounts along with groundbreaking new research, Séan Scullion finally tells the story of these fighting men in his new book.
Join Séan for an engaging talk as he launches his book - Churchill’s Spaniards – at the RLC Museum this September.
Must be pre-booked in advance.
