Explore one of Alcester's Grade II listed timber-framed former dwellings, refurbished to provide modern facilities of hall, meeting rooms, kitchen and toilets for St Nicholas parish Church. A local history exhibition may be on view.

Once a grand medieval timber-framed dwelling house with a utility house to the rear, the front house was converted to Edwardian Meeting Hall in 1910 to form 'Church House' for use of St Nicholas Church as a Mission Room. The back section had earlier been converted to a coach house and stables for the former Rectory next door and remained functional as stables until the mid-1960s after which it became derelict.

Between 2008 - 2016 the whole building was carefully redeveloped and restored under conservation constraints to provide a modern kitchen, and toilets, with meeting rooms above for St Nicholas Church and the Alcester community. The hall and meeting rooms are now in regular and frequent use both by church groups and through bookings for hire by the local community.

The public may freely walk around both downstairs and upstairs to view the ancient dendro-dated timber frames typical of historic Alcester's period dwellings and see how the building has evolved over its following six centuries of occupation into its latest refurbishment. Guided tours by request. The Church House is on Alcester's Heritage town trail with several other buildings to see.
