The Church was built in 1881 as a gift to the community from Mr William Roberts of Darleydale and cost £13,000. It was, for many years, known as ‘Christ Church-in-the-fields’ due to its placement in a semi-rural setting.
• Come and see the beautiful alabaster and marble WWI memorial. This was erected in the early 1920s in the form of a reredos in the late Arts and Crafts style
• Victorian records and documents giving an insight into the consecration and opening of the church in 1882
Open from 1000 to 1600 on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September only. Visitors are also welcome to attend the Sunday morning service at 1100 on 8th September. Disabled access.

The church has a 2-manual organ of 37 speaking stops built by JJ Binns of Leeds. It was brought to Christ Church in 1981 and rebuilt in a new case at the West end. Come and see the beautiful alabaster and marble WWI commemorative reredos and our newly-renovated clock. Disabled access Christ Church will be open during the Sunday morning service 1100 to 1230 and visitors are welcome to the service.
