Chester Waterways Past and Present
Chester Castle Propylaeum, Grosvenor Street, Chester, Cheshire, CH1 2DN
An informative 3 ½ mile walk exploring the River Dee and the canalside, looking at how they have changed over time. The Dee has long provided citizens with a means of transport, trading links, leisure, and of course, food and water. The canal, originally constructed for industrial use, now serves a different purpose. Both river and canal, and the areas surrounding them, have altered through the centuries and our predecessors would have trouble recognising the city today!
