Chartwell House, Gardens and Studio
Chartwell, Mapleton Road, Westerham, Kent, TN16 1PS
Discover the house that Churchill called home, where he brought up his young family. Decorated as it was in the 1930s, make your way through rooms like the library, study, sitting room and dining room displayed as if the family have only just left the room. The hillside gardens reflect Sir Winston’s love of the landscape and nature. They include the lakes he created, the walled garden and the Marycot, a playhouse designed for his youngest daughter Mary. The studio is home to the largest collection of Churchill's paintings that have been saved for the nation to see and enjoy. Learn more about the importance of painting to Churchill with our interactive wall.
