CEMEX Rugby Cement Plant
Cemex Rugby Cement Plant, New Rugby Works, Lawford Road, Rugby, Warwickshire, CV21 2RY
Cement has been produced on this site in Rugby since the middle of the 19th century and the current plant is one of the largest in the UK producing 1.8 million tonnes per annum. The accompanying presentations describe current operations and also provide a fascinating insight into how this aspect of our industrial heritage has evolved over many centuries. The high point of the tour is, literally, reaching the top of the pre-heater tower which stands over 90 metres high and gives views over the entire site, the town of Rugby and most of Warwickshire.
