Celebrating Heritage and Surprising Connections at Hampton Lovett Church and Parish Rooms, Worcestershire

St Mary and All Saints Church, The Forest, Hampton Lovett, Droitwich, Worcestershire, WR9 0LU

  • Multiple dates available
  • In person
  • Pre-booking not required

Please come along and discover Hampton Lovett's role as an historic connections hub! Help us, as well, in celebrating the reopening of the C14th tower after repair and conservation works and maybe take a tower tour.

Hampton Lovett's railway and footpath connections are featured in our exhibits this year. See a working model of the local railway, the church and the old Cutnall Green Halt. Hear about Operation Starfish in World War II. Why not bring your own 'OO' gauge engine and see it running!
Discover the Monarch's Way footpath passing through the churchyard, the escape route of the future King Charles II after the Battle of Worcester in 1651. Learn about Hampton Lovett's connection with the Royalist cause.

Thanks to National Lottery Players and our local community, works to the tower (built in the 1300s) have been completed. Much needed repairs have been undertaken. The old internal doorway has been reopened, the stairway renovated, lighting and a rope hand-rope installed. Enjoy a guided access or virtual tower tour and discover the hidden secrets of the tower- the 'Priest's Room', the old windlass and the bells (two cast in the 1600s and one in the early 1700s).

The church, a Grade 1 listed building, has been the centre of a rural community for 1000 years. There are many obvious historical features to enjoy and also some hidden gems, so please do come along to discover all of these.
