Castle Bromwich Village History - Walk back in time
Arden Hall, Water Orton Road, Birmingham, West Midlands, B36 9PB
Castle Bromwich was originally a Warwickshire village and dates back to the Stone Age. It is home to Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel, a Jacobean mansion built in 1599 by Sir Edward Devereux, the 10-acre 18th-century Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens, St Mary and St Margaret’s Parish Church, A Grade II Coaching Inn, Bradford Arms, and many other original village buildings that still remain to this day.
Photographs from Arden Hall Archives have captured historical moments spanning over many years, showing local events that took place on the village green, buildings that were demolished to make way for housing, farms that were also demolished to use the land for schools, and residential flats. All photographs will be on display to the public, along with newspaper clippings, maps, the history of Arden Hall built in 1965, and books on Castle Bromwich and the surrounding area. Residents will be bringing in their history along with local historical groups. Come and join us for a blast into the past with a cuppa.
