Caravan for the Community: motoring memories, travelling tales and creative connections

Come and meet with members of the team from the National Motor Museum Trust, Beaulieu as we take to the road to show one of the most popular caravans of the 20th Century – a Sprite 400 touring caravan.
Built in 1971, this family friendly caravan was recently acquired by the Museum Trust. The Museum has worked with volunteer members of Hythe Shed in the New Forest to restore the caravan’s exterior and return it to its former glory. With its original four-berth interior intact and bold Sprite issue decor the caravan is a fine example of 70s style!
With support of funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and kindly sponsored in part by the Caravan and Motorhome Club, the Sprite 400 is now a ‘Caravan of the Community’. This mobile space enables the Museum to connect with our local community to share motoring heritage and stories through the ages, and to welcome new ideas. Come and meet us at the Caravan to:
- share your motoring memories, travel tales or road-trip reminiscence!
- recall caravan and camping days...is it the smell of a delicious cooked breakfast or the comforting sound of a whistling kettle you remember?
- create simple, map themed crafts or colour in a caravan picture to take home.
- tell us where you might like to see the 'Caravan for the Community' next - maybe you have ideas for activities we could offer?
The Sprite caravan is a fun, focal point for the Museum to connect with our community - we look forward to meeting visitors of all ages!
