  • In person

Visit the only surviving wind-powered sawmill in the UK, a tiny windmill designed to support the on-site sawmill and woodyard. In the garden of Yewdells, a listed timber-framed cottage built in 1713 (not open).

Buckland Windmill is a small sawmill workshop built in the 1860s. It is situated on property previously owned by the Estate carpenter. Restored in the period 1995-2004 and recently repainted, the windmill now has a circular saw and lathe which is powered for demonstration purposes. It is believed to be the only surviving wind-powered sawmill in the UK. See a new photographic display of the traction engines that used to be here on-site to power the saws. The garden will also be open and refreshments available. Preview information at http://www.bucklandsurrey.net/village-history/buckland-windmill/
