Browne's Hospital is a late medieval Almshouses, built by a rich wool merchant, William Browne, in 1475. The wonderful 15th Century glass has recently been cleaned and protected by external glazing by Barley Studios of York.

This is a rare example of a late medieval almshouse virtually unchanged since its construction. It contains significant stained glass from the late 15th century and other artefacts from its foundation to the Nineteenth century.
