A self-guided exploration of Nottingham's very own "secret library". Visit Bromley House Library with the whole family; exploring the library's longstanding connections to the city of Nottingham and its literary heritage.

Explore Bromley House Library with the whole family! For 2024, the library will be focusing on our connections with Nottingham City for Heritage Open Day. Trails for younger visitors, hands-on activities in conservation work at Bromley House and explorations of our Georgian Garden.

Rarely seen special collections relating to Nottingham authors will be on display in Neville Hoskins Reading Room; including some of the unique works showcased in our Byron at Bromley exhibition for the Byron200 events this year.

Bromley House Library is a Georgian gem with beautiful rooms, over 50,000 books and a lovely and unique walled garden. Learn more about how the library works, its quirky traditions and unusual features. For those who would like to explore further we welcome new membership applications - so this is an opportunity to find out more about becoming part of the Bromley House community.

Directions:
We’re hidden in plain sight… an intriguing doorway on Angel Row. Look for the doorway in between Barnardo’s Charity Shop and MSR Newsagents on Angel Row, just across from Nottingham’s Market Square. We’re close to several bus and tram stops and approximately 0.5 miles from Nottingham Railway Station. Parking is available throughout Nottingham City Centre.

Accessibility details

The library is currently not accessible to wheelchairs, pushchairs, and mobility scooters. The tour involves several flights of stairs and regrettably we do not have a lift. There are steps up into the library's entrance and up to the first, second and third floors of the building. If you have any questions about access please contact the library and we are more than happy to discuss.
