Bridges of Norwich - Walking Tour

Bishop's Bridge, Bishopgate, Norwich, Norfolk, NR1 4AA

  • 11 Sep 2024
  • In person

Starting at Norwich's oldest remaining bridge and ending at New Mills, this tour looks at the stories behind how Norwich has connected either side of the Wensum.

In Roman times there was a wide estuary from Norwich to the coast separating north and south Norfolk. Norwich grew up at the lowest bridging point. This walk from Bishop Bridge to New Mills examines how the two banks of the Wensum connected as Norwich grew in importance and size, and the part the bridges played in the history of our Fine City.
