Bramcote Old Church Tower

Bramcote Tower is situated on raised ground in the centre of the village.
Inside the Tower there are several memorials/plaques constructed of alabaster, marble and oolitic limestone. We also have a resident colony of brown long-eared bats, plus a few pipistrelles. Two unique stained glass windows have been installed recently and there is an Audio Visual unit with pictures, text and videos which tell the story of the Tower as we know it.
In the grounds, several information boards record parts of the Tower's history and the biodiversity of the site. Many of the original gravestones are still visible including six 18th/19th century chest tombs relating to important families known to have lived in the village. Many other gravestones are not visible but their condition and inscriptions have been recorded. The site itself is surrounded on two sides by stone walls, one in herringbone design and there are several different varieties of yew trees.

- Travel from Nottingham to Derby on A52 (Brian Clough Way), duel carriageway. Once in Bramcote, take a left turn along Cow Lane. This rises uphill. At top of Cow Lane, Bramcote Tower can be seen directly opposite. NB. There is very limited parking in the village. Please be considerate of our neighbours need for access to their properties.

Accessibility details
The site is on a slope. There are a few steps once inside the entrance with a handrail to assist. The pathway consists of a series of slopes and more steps. Unfortunately, it is not a wheelchair accessible site and there is no disabled parking close by.
Additional information
The tours are of the remains of Bramcote Hall, situated a short distance from the Tower. Tours will take place at 1pm and 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Refreshments are available during the opening times.
