Bishopwearmouth Walking Tour

The walking tour will explore the historic architecture, people and places of Bishopwearmouth through the 19th and 20th centuries based on local research and surviving historic buildings.
Sunderland City Council was awarded £1.9m from the National Lottery Heritage Fund in June 2018 to undertake a Townscape Heritage Scheme within the Bishopwearmouth Conservation Area. This six year project provides grant assistance to owners and tenants of historic buildings and spaces and hosts a range of activities and events to promote the history of the area.
