Beverley - Gallery at Salt
54 Lairgate, Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire, HU17 8EU
The architectural exhibition features three major projects. 1 - The Spurn Discovery Centre, set within one of the most important nature sites in the UK – designated as National Nature Reserve. Set within the Spurn Heritage Coast and the most south-easterly part of Yorkshire – a three and a half mile long thin spit of fragile sand and glacial mud arcing out across the mouth of the Humber, sitting between the North Sea and the Humber estuary and is an important feeding ground for wading birds. 2 - Quarry Bank Mill, Upper Garden Café and Welcome Buildings at Styal, for the National Trust. Most of the site is within a conservation area and the main buildings are Grade II* (3 in total) and Grade II (23 in total) listed. The building sites were also in Greenbelt Land. 3 - The Yorkshire Arboretum, Tree Health Centre, at Castle Howard, The Yorkshire Arboretum, was set up to safeguard and promote the nationally important collection of trees in the arboretum and nearby woodlands on the Castle Howard estate. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, approximately 1,000 acres of the Castle Howard landscape is a Grade 1 Registered Park and Garden.
