Visit Avebury Manor Garden and the Alexander Keiller Museum for free on the first Friday and Saturday of Heritage Open Days 2024!

The garden will be awash with early autumn colour to be enjoyed from the numerous benches or borrowed picnic blankets. The popular sculpture exhibition returns to the garden on Friday 6 September, encouraging visitors to uncover sculptures and art throughout, from bronze animals to stained glass, and from ceramics to reclaimed wood. On Saturday 7 September, one of the artists exhibiting their work will be in the garden demonstrating different sculptural techniques and talking about their work.

The Alexander Keiller Museum offers visitors a chance to learn more about the wonderful history and archaeology of Avebury stone circles, from its founding over 4500 years ago, through the turbulent medieval period, to the re-erection of parts during the 1930s and the influence of Alexander Keiller.
On both days, stone circle tours are also free. On this tour, a knowledgeable volunteer tour guide will take visitors around the henge, revealing information about the history and mysteries of Avebury. Tours are subject to volunteer availability.

Accessibility details

There are disabled parking spaces in the main visitor carpark, in the high street carpark, and in the staff/volunteer carpark. Please ask if you need directions. There are accessible toilets next to the main visitor reception. The main farmyard is mostly level access, but uneven, with cobblestones between the barn and the museum and garden. A Tramper mobility scooter is available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Ask at Visitor Reception upon arrival. There is level access to the National Trust shop and Circles Restaurant.

Additional information

Dogs are welcome everywhere onsite apart from the garden and restaurant where we can only welcome assistance dogs.
