Artist-guided sketch-walks
11-13 Clayton Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear, NE1 5PN
Originally sold by peddlers known as ‘chapmen’, chapbooks are compact publications which were traditionally used for folk tales, popular literature, religious tracts and political pamphlets.
Each participant will have the opportunity to create their own chapbook using illustrations, observations and stories about the buildings, architecture and streetscape gathered during each artist-guided tour of the Creative Central: Ncl area.
All walks start and finish at the Creative Central: Ncl Hub on the corner of Clayton St. and Nelson St. in central Newcastle, with all walks start at 1000.
All materials, including blank chap books, fine liner pens and watercolour paint, will be provided.
A creative workshop, and the completion of the making of the chapbooks, will take place in the Creative Central: Ncl Hub on the corner of Clayton St. and Nelson St. on Sunday 15th September.
A limited number of places (12) is available on each walk. Advance booking recommended.
