Andrew Windsor Almshouses
Andrew Windsor Almshouses, 53 - 56 Castle Street, Farnham, Surrey, GU9 7LN
Andrew Windsor, a landed gentleman, founded a charity in the 17th century to provide almshouses for " the habitation and relief of eight poor, honest and impotent persons". The charity still manages the almshouses.
The building was constructed in 1619 in brick with drip stones and bargeboards, and the exterior is little changed. Additional accommodation was constructed, to the rear, in the 1970s, giving a total of ten almshouses, all of which are currently occupied.
There is a communal courtyard garden which will be open to display the history of the almshouses.
